Colossians: Day 14
Verses 3:15-17
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Questions:
1. What does it look like to let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts?
2. What body are we members of? What are we called to do as members of this body?
3. We are called three times in these verses to be thankful, why is this so important?
Interpretation:
There is a shift in these verses from individual concerns to group concerns. The peace of God includes worldly security as well as the believers security of salvation. Dwell means to live in or be at home, scriptures should take up residence in your heart. Scripture should permeate every aspect of the believers life and impact every thought, word, and action. Corporate thankfulness is often neglected, and it shouldn’t be.
