A couple of quotes:

“We believe that the Bible is not an account of human efforts to find God, but rather an account of God's effort to reveal Himself to humanity.” - Henry H. Halley (Halley's Bible Handbook)

“Scripture is special revelation, inspired by God and authoritative with regard to matters of belief, value, and practice. Scriptures functions like a light that, aided by the Holy Spirit, guides people as they seek to love God and others with truth, compassion, and justice. - Don Thorsen (An Exploration of Christian Theology)

Central theme of the Bible:

Colossians 1:15-20
Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything
in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.

2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true…

Psalm 119:130
The teaching of your word gives light, so even the simple can understand.

As we read God's word, how is it helping us understand God better?

2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives.

Hebrews 4:12-13
For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.

As we read God's word, how is it helping us become aware of the things that we want versus the things that God wants?

2 Timothy 4:2
Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.

Matthew 7:24-27
“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on
bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”

Psalm 119:105
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.

As we read God's word, how is it correcting and instructing us?

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

As we read God's word, how is it equipping us to represent him better?

Romans 2:4
Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?
