Mark 10:13– And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. 14 But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. 15 Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” 16 And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them. 1) Share a photo of you as a child with your group.
2) Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, what blessed you the most? What did you learn? Was anything confusing?
3) Paul reminded Timothy that his family reared him in the faith: 2 Timothy 3:14 – But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know you can trust those who taught you. 15 You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. (NLT)
• Notice that Timothy was taught the SCriptures as a child.
• Notice that this gave him wisdom.
• Notice that this wisdom led him to trust in Jesus as His Savior.
Describe your experience in church as a child? Did you go regularly or never? Did you go to a Sunday School and learn the gospel? Did you grow up in a different religion? What is the benefit of learning spiritual wisdom at a young age?
“The greatest gift a parent can give a child is their example of being a faithful, godly Christian.” —Pastor Jason
4) The Apostle Paul instructs us in our responsibilies with children: Ephesians 6:4 — Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. (ESV) Look up the words “provoke”, “discipline”, and “instruction.” Compare and contrast all three words and discuss what all Paul is saying in this one sentence.
5) Look back at your notes where Pastor Jason answered the question: What is Jesus teaching us in Mark 10:15? What would you add to Pastor Jason’s answer?
6) Pray for one another and pray for those that you might be able to invite to your Life Group or to church.
