THIS IS MY YEAR: Embracing HOPE in 2022
HOPE for your RELATIONSHIPS
GALATIANS 5 (NIV)
4 You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. 5 For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. … 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.
1. HOPE for your life is determined by how you LOVE OTHERS
2. RELATIONSHIPS are the RELIGION of JESUS
3. LOVE means SELF-SACRIFICE
- Love for the Haters
MATTHEW 5 (NIV)
43 You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.
- Reconcile with the Betrayers
MATTHEW 18 (NIV)
15 (Jesus said) “If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. 16 But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ 17 If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.”
The Jesus Reconciliation Process:
“Just the TWO of YOU” —> “take others along” —> “tell it to the church” —> “treat them (differently)”
- Reconnect with your Friends
LUKE 9 (NIV)
1 When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, 2 and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God …
the TWELVE
- friends ~ shared experiences ~ shared purpose
LUKE 9 (NIV)
28 (Jesus) took Peter, John and James with him and went up onto a mountain to pray. 29 As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning.
- your counselors ~ your confidants ~ your “ride or die”
LUKE 10 (NIV)
1 The Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. 2 He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. 3 Go! I am sending you out ….
- your community ~ your church ~ doing life together
