Family is such an amazing thing!
Romans 8:14-17
14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 
15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 
16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 
17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

Ephesians 2:19-22
19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, 
20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. 
21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 
22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

Any prior commitments, responsibilities and debts were erased.

It is a constant reminder that we are fully desired, fully loved, that we have taken on a new identity through Jesus.

Ephesians 1:3-4
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 
4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love

It’s a big responsibility to be adopted into a family.

Ephesians 4:21-24 
21 when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 
22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 
23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

We find that rather than pursuing our own gain, we want to build others up and see every member of the family grow into maturity, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.
