CHRIST or CULTURE?
What does God say about LIFE?
If we’re really Christians, what God says rules over what culture says, no matter how convincing or complex the issue is.
[2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV]
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
A Biblical Worldview sees LIFE the way God sees it, as He has revealed in His Word.
[Romans 12:2 ESV]
Do not be conformed to this world,
but be transformed by the renewal of your mind,
that by testing you may discern what is the will of God,
what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Is this just a side-issue?
[Matthew 28:18-20 ESV]
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
What does God say?
What Is The Origin Of Life?
[Genesis 1:1, 20-21, 24, 26 ESV]
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. …
20 And God said, “Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the heavens.” 21 So God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
… 24 And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds–livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so. …
26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…
[Genesis 2:7, 21-22 ESV]
then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.
… 21 So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. 22 And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man.
Do you believe this is reality? That it’s history?
The Bible shows us that God is the Source: God created. God gave life.
What Gives Humans Value?
[Genesis 1:26-28 ESV]
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
28 And God blessed them. And God said to them,
“Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it,
and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds
of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
What does it mean to be made in the image of God?
Of all that God has created, humanity uniquely bears His image.
And that’s what gives every human value.
God was intimately involved in creating the first man and woman,
and He is intimately involved in the creative process happening
with every baby in every womb.
[Psalm 139:13-16 ESV]
13 For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you, when I was
being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them, the days
that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.
God is intimately involved in every pregnancy,
whether planned or unplanned.
Desired or undesired.
Does God See Abortion As Murder?
What is murder?
Murder is the intentional and willful taking of innocent human life.
[Genesis 9:6 ESV]
6 “Whoever sheds the blood of man,
by man shall his blood be shed,
for God made man in his own image.
[Exodus 20:13 ESV]
[Exodus 23:7 ESV]
… do not kill the innocent and righteous,
for I will not acquit the wicked.
[Proverbs 6:16-17 ESV]
16 There are six things that the LORD hates,
seven that are an abomination to him: 17 haughty eyes,
a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
[Ezekiel 16:4-6, 20-22 ESV]
4 And as for your birth, on the day you were born your cord was not cut, nor were you washed with water to cleanse you, nor rubbed with salt, nor wrapped in swaddling cloths. 5 No eye pitied you, to do any of these things to you out of compassion for you, but you were cast out on the open field, for you were abhorred, on the day that you were born. 6 “And when I passed by you and saw you wallowing in your blood, I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’
… 20 And you took your sons and your daughters, whom you had borne to me, and these you sacrificed to them to be devoured. Were your whorings so small a matter 21 that you slaughtered my children and delivered them up as an offering by fire to them?
22 And in all your abominations and your whorings you did not remember the days of your youth, when you were naked and bare, wallowing in your blood.
Is abortion murder?
Is abortion the intentional and willful taking of innocent human life?
Yes.
At What Stage Is A Human Fully Human?
At the moment of fertilization, a new and unique human being comes into existence with its own distinct genetic code. Twenty-three chromosomes from the mother and twenty-three chromosomes from the father combine to result in a brand-new and totally unique genetic combination. Whereas the heart, lungs, and hair of a woman all share the same genetic code, her unborn child, from the moment of fertilization, has a separate genetic code that is all its own. There is enough information in this tiny zygote to control human growth and development for the rest of its life. Until implanting into the lining of the uterus, each cell lives off of stored energy and newly manufactured DNA; at this stage in development the zygote is receiving no direct sustenance from the parents. —www.abort73.com
[Luke 1:5, 7-9, 11, 13, 24, 26-27, 31-36, 39-45 ESV]
In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah, of the division of Abijah. And he had a wife from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. …
7 But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and both were advanced in years. 8 Now while he was serving as priest before God when his division was on duty,
9 according to the custom of the priesthood, he was chosen by lot to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense. …
11 And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense. …
13 But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.
… 24 After these days his wife Elizabeth conceived,
and for five months she kept herself hidden…
… 26 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin’s name was Mary. …
31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.” 34 And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?”
35 And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy–the Son of God. 36 And behold, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son, and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. …
39 In those days Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a town in Judah, 40 and she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. 41 And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, 42 and she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! 43 And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 For behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. 45 And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.”
56 And Mary remained with her about three months
and returned to her home.
A Biblical Worldview Of Abortion sees that…
- God is the Creator of humanity…
- God has uniquely created mankind in His image
and therefore every person has intrinsic value… - God is intimately involved in the development of every human life…
- Abortion is the intentional and willful taking of innocent human life…
- Human beings are fully human from conception…
[2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV]
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.
The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
The work of Christ is powerful enough to forgive you, set you free from, and save you from any sin.
