Sorry Man

Introduction

8 “In addition, you must count off seven Sabbath years, seven sets of seven years, adding up to forty-nine years in all. 9 Then on the Day of Atonement in the fiftieth year, blow the ram’s horn loud and long throughout the land. 10 Set this year apart as holy, a time to proclaim freedom throughout the land for all who live there. —Leviticus 25: 8-12 (NLT)

Four Distinct Aspects of Jubilee:

1. Recovery of Land -

2. Released of Slaves -
3. Resetting of Debts -
4. Restoration of Property -

1 “At the end of every seventh year you must cancel the debts of everyone who owes you money. 2 This is how it must be done. Everyone must cancel the loans they have made to their fellow Israelites. They must not demand payment from their neighbors or relatives, for the Lord’s time of release has arrived. 3 This release from debt, however, applies only to your fellow Israelites—not to the foreigners living among you. —Deuteronomy 15:1-3 (NLT)

As long as the debt is unpaid or unforgiven, the debt

the relationship.

Four Debts That Jubilee Cancels:

1. ( Owe )

The Jubilee Cancellation Instrument:

16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. —James 5:16 (NLT)

2. ( Owe )

The Jubilee Cancellation Instrument:

31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. 32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. —Ephesians 4:31-32 (NLT)

3. ( Owe )

The Jubilee Cancellation Instrument:

33-34 “Be generous. Give to the poor. Get yourselves a bank that can’t go bankrupt, a bank in heaven far from bankrobbers, safe from embezzlers, a bank you can bank on. It’s obvious, isn’t it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being. —Luke 12:33-34 (The Message)

4. ( Owes )

The Jubilee Cancellation Instrument:

16-18 Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live. —1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (TMB)

Conclusion

1 One day the group of prophets came to Elisha and told him, “As you can see, this place where we meet with you is too small. 2 Let’s go down to the Jordan River, where there are plenty of logs. There we can build a new place for us to meet.”
“All right,” he told them, “go ahead.”
3 “Please come with us,” someone suggested.
“I will,” he said. 4 So he went with them.
When they arrived at the Jordan, they began cutting down trees. 5 But as one of them was cutting a tree, his ax head fell into the river. “Oh, sir!” he cried. “It was a borrowed ax!”
6 “Where did it fall?” the man of God asked. When he showed him the place, Elisha cut a stick and threw it into the water at that spot. Then the ax head floated to the surface. 7 “Grab it,” Elisha said. And the man reached out and grabbed it. —2 Kings 6:1-7 (NLT)
