Message Notes:

What is a parable?

  • DEF. = An fictional story anyone can understand, which teaches a deeper truth about how God’s kingdom works.

Parables were designed to do 2 things: They illuminated a truth, or they hid a truth

5 And He said to them, “Suppose one of you has a friend, and goes to him at midnight and says to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves, 6 because a friend of mine has come to me from a journey and I have nothing to serve him’; 7 and from inside he answers and says, ‘Do not bother me; the door has already been shut and my children and I are in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything.’ 8 I tell you, even if he will not get up and give him anything just because he is his friend, yet because of his shamelessness he will get up and give him as much as he needs.
9 “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, it will be opened. —Luke 11:5-10 NASB

Jesus makes a shocking statement that all who ask, seek, and knock, will have everything they have asked for be given, be found and be opened to them.

You ask and do not receive, because you ask with the wrong motives, so that you may spend what you request on your pleasures. —James 4:3 NASB

Don’t give up.

Your family member needs for you to pray for them to find Jesus.

Don’t give up.

Your next breakthrough in your marriage or your family is right around the corner.

Don’t give up.

The healing that you have been looking for. One way or another it is on the way but don’t stop praying for it.

Don’t give up.

Because one day this world as we know it will come to an end and your prayers can effect how much heaven this world get’s to experience until then.

66 As a result of this many of His disciples left, and would no longer walk with Him. 67 So Jesus said to the twelve, “You do not want to leave also, do you?” 68 Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life. 69 And we have already believed and have come to know that You are the Holy One of God.” —John 6:68 NASB
