We need to be fervent in

because God hears and answers .

We need to make the most of our time because right now God’s full judgment is

.

The message we proclaim can be

but it won’t always feel pleasant.

Only God has the

to be fully merciful and fully just.

WARM UP QUESTION
Would you say that your parents tended towards being too strict or too permissive? [Today we are going to study Revelation 8-11, and we will see God’s perfect patience, mercy, and justice all play out together.]

HEAD: These questions help us examine the Word.
1. Read Revelation 8-11. As a group, take each chapter and come up with a sentence that describes the theme of each chapter.
2. Given the vivid imagery of these chapters, what are some of the big truths that we want to be sure not to miss?
3. At the end of chapter 9, God’s judgment results in zero repentance on the part of the people. Why do you think that they don’t repent after all of this?
4. God is both 100% merciful and 100% just. How do we see that demonstrated here?

HEART: These questions help us wrestle with what we believe.
5. The judgments here are ugly and terrifying, and can be very unsettling for us. Why do you think you struggle with these pictures of judgement? Or, why don’t you struggle with these pictures of judgement?
6. Is there anything you see here that brings you comfort or encouragement?

HAND: These questions help us bring truth and beliefs into our everyday life.
7. How would you answer if someone asked you: why does God allow evil in this world?
