Humility is the secret ingredient for life, love and leadership.
“Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in humility that comes from wisdom.”
James 3: 13 NIV —https://my.bible.com/bible/111/JAS.3.13.NIV
It is not possible to become who God meant you to be without humility.
1. Humility begins by knowing who you are.
“And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”
Mark 1:11 NIV —https://my.bible.com/bible/111/MRK.1.11“The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying, “Return home and tell how much God has done for you.” So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him.”
Luke 8:38 NIV —https://my.bible.com/bible/111/LUK.8.38-39“Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.”
Luke 8:48 NIV —https://my.bible.com/bible/111/LUK.8.48But he took her by the hand and said, “My child, get up!” Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up. Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat.
Luke 8:54 NIV —https://my.bible.com/bible/111/LUK.8.54
2. Humility is a choice not an emotion.
Jesus was willing to lend his power, his love, his rightful place of authority to those who had none.
“He reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed”.
Mark 1:40 -41 NLT —https://my.bible.com/bible/111/MRK.1.40-41
3.Humility is about actions not words.
It is about redirecting your powers for the sake of others.
“Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”
Mark 12:43-44 NIV —https://my.bible.com/bible/111/MRK.12.43-44“But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.”
James 3:17-18 NLT —https://my.bible.com/bible/116/JAS.3.17-18
Looks like Jesus doesn’t it?
