Colossians - Day 6
Verses 2:1-3
I want you to know how hard I am contending for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not met me personally. My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Questions:
1. Who are we contending for in the same way that Paul is for the people in Colossae and Laodicea? How are we contending for them?
2. How can we encourage people in heart and unite people in love? Who are you seeking out to do this?
3. Where do people search, and what do they find - when looking for spiritual wisdom and knowledge outside of Christ?
4. Why is the wisdom and knowledge found in Christ considered a treasure?
Interpretation:
All understanding is to be found in Christ. The fullness of the Gospel, along with inner encouragement, and shared love are the mark of mature believers who enjoy the assurance of salvation. You should not look outside of God for spiritual wisdom, understanding, or knowledge.
