At The Core, pt 6- Generous With God’s Resources

In our pursuit of more, we may miss out on God’s best.

James 5:1
Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon you.

Matthew 5:40
And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well.

James 5:2
Your riches have rotted and your garments are moth-eaten.

“It all goes back in the box.” Your box.

James 5:3
Your gold and silver have corroded, and their corrosion will be evidence against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up treasure in the last days.

Matthew 6:19-21
“Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. 21 Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.”

The treasures we pursue determine where our heart goes.

James 5:4
Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, are crying out against you, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.

Generous with God’s Resources
We want people who go above and beyond to give sacrificially to the work of God in our communities.

James 5:5
You have lived on the earth in luxury and in self-indulgence. You have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter.

Matthew 16:26
For what will it profit a man if he gains the world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?

James 5:6
You have condemned and murdred the righteous person. He does not resist you.

Get Good at Being Rich

1 Timothy 6:17-18
As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. 18 They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share.

“It is better to give than to receive”. - Jesus(from Acts 20:35)

Lose your life.
