I Dare You to Have Faith
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE SEE WITH EYES OF FEAR?
We exaggerate our difficulties.
“And they told him, “We came to the land to which you sent us. It flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. However, the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. And besides, we saw the descendants of Anak there.” Numbers 13:27-28 ESV
“So they brought to the people of Israel a bad report of the land that they had spied out, saying, ‘The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people that we saw in it are of great height.’” Numbers 13:32 ESVWe underestimate our abilities.
“We even saw giants there, the descendants of Anak. Next to them we felt like grasshoppers, and that’s what they thought, too!” Numbers 13:33 NLTWe get discouraged.
“Then the whole community began weeping aloud, and they cried all night.” Numbers 14:1 NLTWe start to complain about our lives.
“Their voices rose in a great chorus of protest against Moses and Aaron. ‘If only we had died in Egypt, or even here in the wilderness!’ they complained.” Numbers 14:2 NLTWe forget God’s prior faithfulness.
“Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me.” Psalm 103:2 NLTWe eventually give up and blame God!
“Why is the Lord taking us to this country only to have us die in battle? Our wives and our little ones will be carried off as plunder! Wouldn’t it be better for us to return to Egypt?” Then they plotted among themselves, “Let’s choose a new leader and go back to Egypt!” Numbers 14:3-4 NLT
God wants you to choose faith.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE SEE WITH EYES OF FAITH?
Faith is seeing from God’s point of view.
“What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen and to be certain of things we do not yet see.” Hebrews 11:1 NLT
“I pray that the eyes of your heart will be flooded with light so that you can see the wonderful future God has promised to those he called…” Ephesians 1:18 NLT
Faith shrinks my problems.
“Is anything too hard for the Lord?” Genesis 18:14a
“For nothing is impossible with God!” Luke 1:37Faith opens the door for a miracle.
“Jesus said, ‘Have faith in God! If you have faith in God and you don’t doubt, you could tell this mountain to get up and jump into the sea, and it would. Whatever you ask for in prayer will be yours, if you only have the faith.’” Mark 11:22-24Faith moves God to act on my behalf.
“Jesus said, ‘According to your faith it will be done to you.’” Matthew 9:29Faith unlocks all the promises of God.
“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are all ‘Yes’ in Christ!” 2 Corinthians 1:20aFaith gives me the power to hold on in tough times.
“We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we’re not crushed and broken. We’re perplexed, but we don’t give up and quit. We’re attacked but God never abandons us. We get knocked down, but we get up and keep going!” 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 NLTFaith turns God-given dreams into reality
“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” Ephesians 3:20 NLT
“Glory be to God, who by his mighty power at work within us, is able to do FAR MORE than we would ever DARE TO ASK or even DREAM of—infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes!” Ephesians 3:20 (LB)
“God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life.” John 3:16 (CEV)
