Treasure
Part of Sermon Notes

Big Idea: Is the Kingdom of Christ our highest Treasure?

Our Greatest joy will be found in treasuring the Kingdom of God, and losing everything for the sake of gaining and advancing the Kingdom of God is a great trade off.

Matthew 13:44-45

  • The Kingdom of heaven is about the present and future reign and ruling of Christ in my life. Romans 14:17 “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit”.
  • Like a treasure hidden in a field/looking for fine pearls the focus is on the value of the Kingdom.
  • A man found the treasure/the merchants was looking for fine pearls. They had different experiences and the same response toward the kingdom. One happened to come upon it and the other was seeking
  • With joy he sells everything he has the point is not that he bought or bartered his way into the kingdom but that he joyfully gave up all that he had for the Kingdom. It was worth the loss of everything. Phil. 3:7-8

Pastor’s Challenge:

  • Having a Kingdom heart takes sacrifice and being invested.
  • The best way to develop a Kingdom heart is to seek God above all else. Matthew 6:33
  • Don’t let fear hinder you from having a heart for the Kingdom of God. Luke 12:32-34
  • Is investing in the Kingdom of God worth more than what I already have?
