Jesus: The Sympathetic Savior
John 7:53-8:11
“7:53 Then each one went to his house. 8:1 But Jesus went to the mount of Olives. 2 At dawn He went to the temple again, and all the people were coming to Him. He sat down and began to teach them. 3 Then the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery, making her stand in the center. 4 “Teacher,” they said to Him, “this woman was caught in the act of committing adultery. 5 In the law Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?” 6 They asked this to trap Him, in order that they might have evidence to accuse Him. Jesus stooped down and started writing on the ground with His finger. 7 When they persisted in questioning Him, He stood up and said to them, “The one without sin among you should be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 Then He stooped down again and continued writing on the ground. 9 When they heard this, they left one by one, starting with the older men. Only He was left, with the woman in the center. 10 When Jesus stood up, He said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you? 11 “No one, Lord,” she answered. “Neither do I condemn you,” said Jesus. “Go, and from now on do not sin anymore.” (John 7:53-8:11, CSB)
“7 Instead He emptied Himself by assuming the form of a servant, taking on the likeness of humanity. And when He had come as a man, 8 He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death — even to death on a cross.” (Philippians 2:7-8, CSB)
“19….“Teacher, I will follow you wherever You go.” 20 Jesus told him, “Foxes have dens, and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His
head.” (Matthew 8:20)
“For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” (Luke 14:11, CSB)
“6 They asked this to trap Him, in order that they might have evidence to accuse Him.
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus, 2 because the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do since it was weakened by the flesh, God did. He condemned sin in the flesh by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh as a sin offering.” (Romans 8:1-3, CSB)
“7 When they persisted in questioning Him, He stood up and said to them, “The one without sin among you should be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 Then He stooped down again and continued writing on the ground. 9 When they heard this, they left one by one….”
“10 When Jesus stood up, He said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you? 11 “No one, Lord,” she answered. “Neither do I condemn you,” said Jesus. “Go, and from now on do not sin anymore.”
“4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love that He had for us, 5 made us alive with Christ even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace!” (Ephesians 2:4-5, CSB)
“Neither do I condemn you,” said Jesus. “Go, and from now on do not sin anymore.”
“Let the word of Christ dwell richly among you, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs…” (Colossians 3:16, CSB)
