Exodus 7-11

Exodus 5:2 (NIV)
“Who is the Lord, that I should obey him and let Israel go? I do not know the Lord and I will not let Israel go.”

Exodus 7:8-13 (NIV)
The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “When Pharaoh says to you, ‘Perform a miracle,’ then say to Aaron,

“‘Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh,’ and it will become a snake.”

So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord commanded. Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake.

Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers, and the Egyptian magicians also did the same things by their secret arts:

Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs.

Yet Pharaoh’s heart became hard and he would not listen to them, just as the Lord had said.

Exodus 5:2 (NIV)

  • Boils (Exodus 9:8-12)

And the last four plagues have to do with the sky –

  • Hail (Exodus 9:13-35)
  • Locusts (Exodus 10:1-20)
  • Darkness (Exodus 10:21-29)
  • Death of firstborn (Exodus 11:1-10)

Do not conform to the pattern of this world … .

1 John 5:21 (NIV)
Dear children, keep yourselves from idols.

He Makes A Way …

  • Through exposing the false gods in our midst so that we might recognize and follow the true God.

Sometimes the only way to realize that you’ve put your trust in the wrong place is to find yourself in circumstances which expose the powerlessness of that which you trusted.

  • Through doing things in such a way so that He receives the glory.

Exodus 6:6-7 (NIV)
“Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.

“’I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment.

“’I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.’”
