Last Word on the King | 2 Samuel 23:8-24:25
In these closing chapters, we see David’s heart for God, even though we also see more sin. David is presented as an example and warning to the people and their future kings. And we are reminded that, ultimately, the Lord himself is king over his people.

Focusing on David’s Spiritual Statements
The Worthiness of God 23:16-17
Don’t seek or accept for yourself what properly belongs to God.
The Merciful Justice of God 24:14
Acknowledge your sin and entrust yourself to the goodness of God.
Whatever God does, he does with all that he is. Or, put another way, whenever we encounter God, we meet him in his fullness, with all his attributes. God has no moods or imbalance. He does not leave certain attributes behind when showing others. He is always and ever simply himself.
