I Am the Resurrection and The Life
John 11:1-44
John 11:25-26 - Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
As believers in Jesus we live in Resurrection now and still to come
Resurrection Now is found through faith in Jesus
There must be death before life - Ephesians 2:1-3
Death came from Adam’s sin - 1 Corinthians 15:21-22
Resurrection Now is immediate - John 11:25-26
In our belief in Jesus, there is room for questions, doubt, and disappointment
John 11:33 - “When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled.”
Greek word = embrimaomai, which means to snort with anger, to be painfully moved and express indignation against
Jesus’ anger towards death is part of his motivation to suffer the cross and rise from the dead, so that we will one day no longer have to experience death.
The heart of the Father embodied in the son experienced death but he defeats death in his resurrection forever for you and I because he hates what it does to his people. This is our hope.
Our hope is in the resurrection still to come
- 1 Corinthians 15:50-58
- 1 Corinthians 15:50-58
Take Aways:
Come out of death and be made alive in Christ.
Remove the grave clothes and give others permission to help. So that you can walk in life.
Know if you are suffering, questioning, or doubting God today, that he is there weeping with you in your suffering.
