Everyday Jesus Notes 2.5.23
February 5, 2023

Everyday Jesus: Everyday Jesus is a great way to deepen your Bible reading, prayer life & personal time with Christ.

• Monday: Read Deuteronomy 12:4-7&14:22-27 - Giving was always a matter of freedom and joy. In Deut 14 specifically, God insists on the tithe but not to the neglect of the family. We are to give to God and it leads to joy and prosperity for our family. Today, ask God how and to what degree He desires you to give to His purpose.
• Tuesday: Read Luke 8:3 Mt 14:12, it is a single verse with a lot of meaning. Chuza worked for Herod - the enemy of Christ. Yet, Chuza and his wife determined to give to the cause and ministry of Christ from what they had. As you read this brief testimony of giving, you see that Herod (who killed John the Baptist and played a role in death of Jesus) was an evil man, yet his steward Chuza and his wife Joanna when converted to faith in Christ, provided for Christ’s ministry out of their means. Today, ask the Lord how He wants you to provide for the ministry of Christ out of your own means.
• Wednesday: [Day of Fasting] Read Mark 12:41-44 Jesus watched people putting money into the offering box [meditate on that for a minute]. He noticed a difference between the attitude of the rich that gave and the poor widow. The rich gave larger sums, but the poor widow gave with a larger heart of trust in the Lord. For, she gave out of poverty, all she had to live on. This helps us understand, God watches our heart when it comes to our giving. To give all she had to live on was a matter of personal trust i God. Ask the Lord to deepen your understanding of how your giving reflects your trust in God.
• Thursday: Read 1 Cor 16:1-3 Paul collected an offering [Rom 15:25-28, 2 Cor 8, Ac 24:17] for saints in Jerusalem. Christ followers from Macedonia and Achaia saw their giving as what they owed the other Christians, because their faiths were connected. Pray to God to understand how what you give relates to how God has used others to deepen your knowledge of and walk with Him
• Friday: Read 2 Cor 8:1-7 Connected to the offering Paul collected he shared in 2 Cor that before they gave to others they first gave themselves to the Lord. Today ask the Lord to guide you in how he desires for you to give yourself to Him so that you can than give to others - for His purpose.
