╬ The Samaritans were considered an unlikely group to be added to the believing church of Jesus. But Jesus and Philip, and Peter and John, take the gospel to the despised Samaritans and God blessed them with authentic faith. Are there people in your life that you don’t believe could be reached by the gospel? Pray for God the Spirit to grant authentic faith to even the hardest heart.

╬ Looking good on the outside, saying or doing the “right things,” doesn’t mean one is right with God. Simon’s heart was not focused on God, but on his ambition and how he might use the gift of the Spirit to advance his position. Pray for the church, and those within her fold, to have softened hearts and a true turning to Christ.

╬ Father, Son, and Spirit, you are the One who knows the heart. We lift to you those who trust themselves rather than surrender to the ways and the will of God. Give us courage to trust you and follow you wherever you lead. In Christ’s name. Amen.
