Day 11

NO NEED FOR UNNECESSARY SWEAT

This is what I have observed to be good: that it is appropriate for a person to eat, to drink and to find satisfaction in their toilsome labor under the sun during the few days of life God has given them—for this is their lot. —Ecclesiastes 5:18 NIV

Disobedience brought sweat to our eyebrows and work to our hands. A perfect world created for our enjoyment snatched from our reach and replaced with toil because of our disregard to ourselves and our creator. Our disregard of His oneness has brought toil once again.

We break a sweat to care for each other and we break a sweat to be disobedient to each other, the irony. We destroy our perfect world once again.

Truth be told there is no need for sweat amongst us. From the beginning it was not so.

The very wise King Solomon spoke of enjoying life that was ours from the beginning. King Solomon observed many things during the course of his life such as the very elements for one to be satisfied in life.

He saw where man would spend his years in toilsome labour; and in the blink of an eye, his life would quickly come to an end. He is deterred from the things meant to be enjoyed in this very short life.

Oftentimes, we as couples find ourselves too busy for each other, whether it be dealing with the children, the job, church or other responsibilities. It is crucial for us to take a moment to examine where we are; and rather than neglect each other, spend quality time enjoying one another.

Enjoyment of our oneness is due if we dwell in obedience to each other and to our creator.

Prayer:

Father, from the beginning you desired nothing but the best for us. Please help us to love, honor, and cherish each other. May we not take life for granted but fully enjoy each moment spent together. Teach us how to enjoy this wonderful life you have gifted us. In Jesus’ name…Amen.

Reflection:

  1. Spend quality time with your spouse once weekly beginning this week. 2. Communicate deeply with your spouse, being non judgemental.
  2. Engage in joyful activities… dancing, camping, swimming.
  3. Come back tomorrow for an exciting Day 12!
